Bunnies Bunnies Everywhere

They're in our backyard, front yard, and as of today, our food tray.

It's hard to tell what that is, but Ellie tried an Annie's bunny graham cracker today at snack time which just happened to have little chocolate chips in it making that her first experience ever with chocolate. I'd say it went well.



At first, at least. As usual, four bunnies later the fun was over and we had to move on to something else. Something like bunny watching.

I'm pretty sure it was the first time Ellie really paid attention to and concentrated on one of those rascally rabbits.

Penny took advantage of that distraction and got some kisses in.

5:10

That's what time our little early bird decided to wake up this morning.
FIVE.TEN.
I couldn't believe it, but she was wide awake (on the bright side she had slept straight through from about 7:45 to 5:10). So, Mommy poured a cup of coffee and Miss E and I started our day early. Thankfully, she went down fairly easily for a morning nap around 8.

How she slept with her foot that way is beyond me. :oP
After her nap we went to the lab so I could have my blood drawn. Poor thing cried more than when she had her own blood drawn though. I think it was mainly because of the baby crying in the room next door. On our way home we stopped by to visit with Teresa and Brady. As usual, Ellie helped herself to his toys.

And as usual, Mommy made them take pictures together.

Ellie then felt the need to crawl over him so that she could play with more of his toys, but Brady didn't seem to mind.




In general she was very sweet and gentle with him and I'm almost positive I even heard her call him "baby" (or "beebee" actually). :o)



Our afternoon nap wasn't nearly as easy as the morning one. After fighting it for about 45 minutes, we were both pretty flustered and teary. I finally just left the room (as she screamed), took a deep breath, said a little prayer for patience, went back in and just held her close and rocked her. After some initial fussing and fidgeting she fell asleep within 5 minutes.

Thank you God for quick responses! Of course, only 40 minutes later she was up and screaming. I went back to her and fed her and she conked out again for another hour and a half.

Phew! What a day.


A few random observations about Ellie lately that I want to make real quick:
1. She has taken to sorting her food. Sometimes she separates the food she really wants to eat (like at lunch when she put aside her bread)

and sometimes she isolates the food she doesn't want (like at dinner with her sweet potatoes.. yeah, you read that right... she's pretty much boycotting any veggies that aren't spoon fed to her at the moment, even her beloved sweet potatoes).

2. She is getting really good at standing up without much assistance which comes in handy when she refuses to let go of what she's holding on to.

She also likes to carry things with her as she crawls around.

3. Her hair is getting longer and more visible each day. :o)

Weekend Wrap-up

Well, this was an interesting weekend. Saturday we made the crucial mistake of trying to be productive. My doctor ordered some blood work for me, so we figured we'd take advantage of our zoo membership and I dropped Ellie and Daddy off while I went to the lab.

Unfortunately, there was a HUGE line at the lab. Not too surprising really since it was a Saturday, but they were giving people an estimate of an hour plus wait. This wouldn't have been a huge deal if it wasn't 97 degrees at 10 am and Ellie was already looking like this about 10 minutes into the trip.

Soooo, plans were scrapped. I left the lab and picked them up. To make it up to her, we let Ellie drive home.

Haha.. just kidding, but we did stick her in front of the air conditioning to cool off.

Things got better once we got home.

She just wasn't feeling giraffes that day I guess.

We don't know why either?

She sure did look cute though (thank you Aunt Rhonda)!

For some reason she totally boycotted taking an afternoon nap. That is, until we layed down in Mommy and Daddy's room to cool off.

Ah, Saturday was just all over the place. Kinda like how Ellie walks. :)

Sunday was a little more even keeled. We started it bright and early (thank you, Ellie), but at least she took a morning nap. As seems to be the new m.o., a morning nap meant that an afternoon nap was unnecessary... to Ellie at least.

*Sigh* I think we may have to experiment with her schedule to find a happy medium for everyone (and I think it may involve just attempting one nap a day). That should be fun, but not this fun

or this easy.

(that's a new skill, by the way! :) )

Cuteness Overload

Okay, so I know Ellie is pretty cute every day (and I know how incredibly biased that opinion is :oP), but today she just seemed extra cute. Was it the outfit? Maybe. Was it the cup of coffee I had to make up for the fact that she woke up an hour early? Also a possibility. No matter what the reason; I think you will certainly enjoy these. :)

She also had celery for the first time. After quite a bit of playing with it


it eventually made it into her mouth.

She wasn't impressed. In fact, the whole lunch was pretty disappointing to her until it was smooshed into Cheerios (*sigh*).

Mmm, Meatloaf-Os and Celery-Os. It just doesn't get any better than that. Oh wait, this is better. :)
